You are invited to attend the inaugural New Zealand Backpacker Industry Conference, convened by the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute and NZBackpack.com.

The Conference will be of particular interest to those in the transport, accommodation and activities sectors, as well as regional and national tourism organisations. This is your chance to get up-to-date with the latest developments in the backpacker industry and participate in discussion of issues affecting the industry in 2009 such as:

  • - new segments in the backpacker market
  • - responding to current economic conditions
  • - social networking amongst backpackers
  • - use of new technologies in the promotion of your business.

The Conference will be held at AUT University in Auckland, on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September 2009.

Guest speakers include the Hon John Key, Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism; George Hickton, Chief Executive, Tourism New Zealand; and Tim Cossar, Chief Executive, Tourism Industry Association New Zealand.
