The South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is the mandated inter-governmental organisation for the tourism sector in the South Pacific. SPTO is an organisation with a membership that substantially represents both the public and private sectors.
Current full government member countries include The Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, New Caledonia, Niue, Papua New Guinea, People's Republic of China, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. Private sector members include over 200 of the major tourism operators in the region (see www.spto.org). All the countries and territories within the region have recognised the future importance of tourism development.
This online marketplace for tourism in the South Pacific has been designed as a ‘place’ for investors to search for investment products and for entrepreneurs to present investment opportunities. There are resources for investors (useful links and country profiles for example) and to assist entrepreneurs (especially small and medium-sized enterprise owners) to present a well considered investment opportunity (e.g. ‘how to’ guides for the preparation of business plans).
