Kia Ora.

We would like to invite you to attend this year's Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand Conference hosted by the Division of Sport and Recreation of the Auckland University of Technology. This invitation is extended to researchers, educators, postgraduate students, and government and industry practitioners in the broad of field of sport and recreation management.

Island Paradise Confirmed for SMAANZ Conference 2007!

Waiheke Island New Zealand will be the location of the 2007 SMAANZ Conference. This island paradise is a scenic 35 minute ferry trip from downtown Auckland.

Waiheke Island, an island of stunning beauty, is home to numerous wineries and award winning vineyards, unique arts and crafts, stylish cafes, uncrowded beaches and secluded bays. There are spectacular coastal and cliff top walks overlooking the sparkling waters and islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Just above and a five minute walk from Palm Beach is the venue for the conference - the Waiheke Island Resort, a unique island retreat of luxury villas and chalets nestled in sub-tropical gardens, most with stunning views.

The conference will include the usual high quality academic programme, coupled with presentations from the sport management profession. The conference will bring academics and practitioners together to share and learn and present the latest research and ideas from Australasia and further a field.

This year's broad theme for the conference is Convenient and Inconvenient Truths. Presenters are challenged to consider how the conclusions of their research challenge existing beliefs, assumptions and approaches to best practice. In doing so, presenters should conclude whether the results of their presentation should be considered a convenient or inconvenient truth.

Please register your interest in attending SMAANZ 2007, and we look forward to seeing you on Waiheke Island.
