The organisers of this year's SMAANZ conference would like to offer students and supervisors an opportunity to meet as a group on Sunday morning after the conference has finished. This will be an informal, causal peer-to-peer forum aimed at discussing issues which are more relevant to post-graduate students. Possible topics for discussion include managing expectations, job hunting, navigating the publishing waters and support during your thesis/dissertation writing.
Having graduated last year with my PhD from Florida State University, and taking a non-traditional path into academics, I hope to be the bridge between students and those experienced faculty members attending this forum.
