NZTRI’s event tourism research programme area sets out to conduct internationally recognised multidisciplinary research that adds value to industry, the professionals that work within it and the communities that they serve.

Areas of interest include:

• Working with individuals, communities, small businesses and local government to develop research tools to assist in the planning and management of event tourism related activities
• micro-events in non-urban settings
• participant satisfaction, service quality & behavioural intentions (including sponsorship purchase intentions) of event participants
• economic, social and environmental impact of events on host communities
• community engagement and host community attitudes towards events
• volunteer management
