    NZTRI Research Team Members

One of the strengths of the NZTRI is its ability to tap into the resources of academics both nationally and internationally. Some of the most dynamic academics in tourism and related fields form our organisation, providing access to cutting-edge developments in all aspects of the industry.

New Members

We welcome new members to NZTRI. There is no geographical or institutional barrier to membership – we currently have members from many different countries and from a range of NGO, private and public sector organisations.

Membership costs nothing and the bulk of our members come to us following informal meetings with existing members at NZTRI. There are two categories of membership offered by the Institute - that of a Member, and an Associate. Essentially, the difference between the two relates to the level of activity and contribution to the Institute. In turn, you will reap the benefit of being part of our international network and have access to our pool of expertise.

Members: those seeking to be a Member would be actively involved in current research or be contributing to the Institute in other ways. This category would include key individuals or organisations that have long standing relationships with NZTRI and who make a significant contribution to the work we do. Members will be invited to submit sufficient information to allow us to create a Member page on the www.nztri.org website. Members will be able to give details of their research interests and identify persons with complementary research interests and expertise for potential collaborative activities.

Associates: those individuals who wish to maintain their interest in the Institute, but without the same level of active involvement expected of a Member. This category would also include individuals who have been associated with NZTRI in the past, and those wishing to be involved in future projects. Associates will be invited to submit sufficient information to allow us to create a page on the www.nztri.org website. Associates will be able to give details of their research interests and identify persons with complementary research interests and expertise for potential collaborative activities.

Members and Associates receive: free access to the NZTRI Website and online resources; newsletters and research updates; invitations to attend our seminars; and may benefit from the shared resources and expertise of our members and associates.

Alternatively, you may just wish to be added to our mailing list to receive updates and invitations to seminars.

Naturally, as research is dynamic in nature, an individual or even organisation, may find that they move between these different categories over time.

There are, however, some simple procedures that must be followed if you would like to join via the web:

  1. Contact Simon Milne or Carolyn Nodder

  2. Outline your reasons for membership and what you hope to bring to, and get from, membership to the Institute, also include a brief CV and some idea of your research interests

  3. We will then get back to you to confirm your category of membership.
